Nine Inch Nails (NIN) originally formed in 1988 in Cleveland, Ohio and have been led by Trent Reznor since. He produces, writes, sings and is the only person responsible for the direction of the group. With each tour, Reznor brings in a new touring band and changes around his set to give fans a different sound and look with each show. They also use a lot of different light shows and other visual images during the show to boost the performance and it works as fans usually go home happy.
When Nine Inch Nails first started performing, they were mostly an underground success but as they started to release new music, radio began to play their songs more often. With the increased radio play, the group quickly gained fans in the mainstream to go with their underground fans. They have won two Grammy Awards and have sold more than 20 million records worldwide with more than 10 million coming in the United States alone. Many of their most popular singles that fans will want to hear include “The Perfect Drug,” “Closer,” “Only,” “We’re in This Together,” and “The Hand that Feeds.”
Soundgarden originally formed in 1984 with Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil and Hiro Yamamoto. They were a popular group during the time in which grunge music was first becoming a hot genre in the business. They hold the distinction of being the first grunge group to sign a record deal with a major record label. Much like with their tour mates, it took some time for them to gain commercial success, but they did achieve this success right about the same time as Nine Inch Nails.
In 1991, the group release Badmotorfinger, which has been certified platinum twice by the Recording Industry Association of America for selling more than two million copies. It wasn’t until their 1994 release, Superunknown, did the group really begin to gain steam. Among the singles off that album that helped their sales include “Black Hole Sun,” “Spoonman,” “My Wave,” “Fell on Black Days,” and “The Day I Tried to Live.”
Among the venues the tour will take these two acts to include the Molson Canadian Amphitheater in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Nikon at Jones Beach Theatre in Wantagh, New York; Austin360 Amphitheatre in Austin, Texas; and the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, California.
