Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today released the West Virginia Edge Business Report. The report documents the state’s economic progress. The March 2014 report highlights projects and related announcements from businesses both large and small that will assist with the creation of new jobs and the preservation of existing jobs.

GOVERNOR TOMBLIN IS COUNCIL OF STATE GOVERNMENTS PRESIDENT
West Virginia’s Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has been named president of the Council of State Governments (CSG) for 2014. He will be the first former chair in the organization’s history to serve as president.

JAPAN PRESENTS WEST VIRGINIA’S SENATOR ROCKEFELLER WITH HIGH HONOR
U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller was presented with one of the highest honors the Japanese government can bestow on a non-national. The Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun was awarded to the senator from West Virginia in a formal ceremony held in Washington D.C.

RUST-OLEUM PLANS TO OPEN NEW FACILITY IN BERKELEY COUNTY

INNOVA Commercialization Group, (INNOVA®), and the West Virginia Jobs Investment Trust (WVJIT) are investing $200,000 into Mighty Tykes™ LLC. The startup company in Berkeley Springs makes colorful child-sized wrist and ankle weights.

CHEMICAL ALLIANCE ZONE PRESENTS $53,220 IN GRANTS TO THREE TECH COMPANIES

The Chemical Alliance Zone (CAZ) has awarded commercialization grants totaling $53,220 to three companies in West Virginia. The Chemicals and Materials (CAM) Commercialization Fund grants help bring new technologies to market.
