Mt. Vernon, New York (PRWEB) March 25, 2014
Richard Greco, Jr., The Montfort Academy's chairman of the board, is proud to announce that The Montfort Academy’s 7th annual fundraising gala will take place on the evening of Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Bronxville Women’s Club. Richard Greco, Jr. says the theme of this year’s gala is Swing with the Saints, in honor of the canonization of Popes John Paul II and John XXII, which will take place in Rome the next morning.
The Gala will feature the well-known 20-piece Swingtime Big Band of New York and the gourmet catering of Trattoria Columbus Park of Stamford, CT. The Gala will begin with a student-teacher swing dance, highlighting their dancing and athletic skills. The Gala will also feature a silent and live auction in support of The Montfort Academy, New York's only classical Catholic high school.
Unlike previous gala’s, Richard Greco explains, this year’s gala will not feature an honoree but will feature the teachers and students of The Montfort Academy. Richard Greco, Jr. says, “We wanted to feature the academic achievements and the character formation of our students, and the joy of learning that they experience at Montfort. These are students who are in love with learning—not simply for learning’s sake but because of what a solid classical education does for them in terms of preparation for college and for life. We also wanted to highlight our teachers, who are priceless treasures. They are educators in the true sense of the word, deriving from the Latin educare which means to lead forth. Our teachers are simultaneously leaders and followers, leaders of students and disciples of Christ, helping to bring our students to success in this world and prepare them for the the next world. We could not be prouder of our devoted teachers and the work they do.”
