For the second time, Truven Health named QHR client hospital Valley View Hospital (Glenwood Springs, CO) among its "100 Top Hospitals" list. The results were announced on March 3, 2014.

Truven Health's "100 Top Hospitals" list awards those facilities which have achieved performance excellence and are leading their peer hospitals toward unprecedented improvements in healthcare.

"Winning the award once is quite an achievement, but to win twice is evidence of the commitment from hospital leadership, physicians, nurses and employees to continually provide outstanding care to Valley View Hospital's patients," said James L. Horrar, President and CEO of Quorum Health Resources. "We are proud to see a QHR client hospital maintain its spot on Truven's list."

"Our hospital strives to provide our patients with positive healthcare experiences every time," said Gary Brewer, CEO of Valley View Hospital. "Providing high-quality care is key to our mission at Valley View Hospital and we are honored to be selected among the nation's top hospitals."

"This year's 100 Top Hospitals represent the highest national standards in hospital care and effective leadership today," said Jean Chenoweth, senior vice president for performance improvement and the 100 Top Hospitals program at Truven Health Analytics. "They set the benchmarks for peers around the country to follow--consistently delivering outstanding quality of care, satisfaction and community value at a reasonable cost."

According to Truven, based on the results of this year’s study, if all Medicare inpatients received the same level of care as those treated in the award-winning facilities:

  •     More than 165,000 additional lives could be saved.
  •     Nearly 90,000 additional patients could be complication-free.
  •     $5.4 billion could be saved.
  •     The average patient stay would decrease by nearly half a day.

The 100 Top Hospitals study uses objective research and independent public data to recognize the best hospitals in the nation.
