The National Hardware Show® announces the addition of the Emergency Preparedness & Disaster Recovery category to this year’s show, which will be held May 6-8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC).
As technology continues to improve the ability to predict, track and warn people about approaching catastrophic storms, it has also created a retail niche category for merchants who supply their communities with the necessary survival and recovery supplies.
That is why the National Hardware Show, which has been helping identify trend opportunities for the home improvement channel since 1945, is pleased to announce the addition of the new category as an easy way to help show attendees identify and source this product category.
Champ is a recently launched brand that is specifically focused on developing products that can provide assistance in times of emergency. According to Richard Russo, vice president of the National Hardware Show, the decision to feature the new category was a natural extension to the show.
“The response to our new Emergency Preparedness & Disaster Recovery category has been outstanding,” he says. “We have a fantastic representation of manufacturers that understand the importance of providing products that help communities when disaster strikes. From companies that are new to the industry to larger brands, the Emergency Preparedness & Disaster Recovery category provides access to products that allow small businesses to remain the staples of the communities.”
And response from buyers regarding the addition has been well-received. “I attend the National Hardware Show because it gives me the ability to see new and exciting products and find great new items that give me an edge over other retailers in our marketplace,” says Adam Busscher, owner of Picton Home Hardware in Picton, Ontario. “One new area I am hoping to investigate this year is the Emergency Preparedness & Disaster Recovery category. This is a growing category in our store, and we are looking for new vendors and products that will help us be a market leader.”
