FutureCarbon GmbH is a leading innovator and provider of novel, carbon-based composites. As a specialist in the manufacture and in particular the refinement of carbon materials FutureCarbon enables the processing industry, to easily utilize the extraordinary properties of carbon materials in their products.
“We enjoy a long-standing development partnership with Bayer. We are pleased that we were able to acquire the Bayer patents for further market realization of the technology. They expand our applications base substantially and open up new possibilities and business segments for us,” said Dr. Walter Schütz, FutureCarbon’s managing director of development.
“We are happy that FutureCarbon, one of the partners from the Inno.CNT development network, will be carrying on our company’s work,” said Patrick Thomas, CEO of Bayer Material Science. “We are confident that the technology harbors tremendous potential, particularly for a renowned specialist company like FutureCarbon.”
Researchers from Bayer MaterialScience had conducted substantial research and development work in the field of carbon nanotubes in collaboration with external partners over the last 10 years. The intellectual property that has been built-up includes complex issues relating to safe production and methods for scaling up the production processes. Next-generation catalysts and new product grades were also developed.
„FutureCarbon does further strengthen its unique market position in the application specific utilization of the amazing material effects of CNT’s and graphene’s through this agreement. Exciting pioneering materials such as glass- and carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics will be boosted in terms of weight, strength and efficiency through our solutions “, concludes Klaus Zeyn, managing director Sales & Marketing of FutureCarbon.
