New York’s neon heart, Times Square, is the city’s most popular tourist attraction, according to a global survey of international students.

Research by Kaplan International English revealed that visiting Times Square was the preferred tourist activity for more than one-third (35%) of international students with "The Crossroads of the World" proving more popular than many other famous New York destinations.

Times Square topped the “What’s your favourite tourist attraction” category in Kaplan’s “What to do in New York” survey, beating the likes of Central Park (24%), Brooklyn Bridge (14%), the Empire State Building (9%) and the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island (3%).

Robert John Burck, better known as the Naked Cowboy, said: "Times Square is so amazing that I dedicated my life to being there. I've spent so much time enjoying the tourist attraction Times Square that I have somehow become a tourist attraction myself.

"Over 15 years I have worked through every day of every season in Times Square because it truly is the Greatest Place on Earth!"
