Quorum Review IRB, the industry leader in central IRB services, announces its CEO Cami Gearhart, JD and Regulatory Counsel, J. Claire Carbary, JD, CIP as presenters at ACRP’s 2014 Global Conference and Exhibition held April 26-29, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas.

Ms. Gearhart’s presentation focuses on medical devices, including how an IRB applies ethical review to this type of research. Ms. Carbary’s talk will cover best practices for consenting to future research. Of the presentations, Ms. Gearhart says, “Our dual appearances at ACRP’s Global Conference are great opportunities for Quorum Review to demonstrate the depth and breadth of our expertise relative to the ethical review of clinical research.”

Ms. Gearhart originally joined Quorum Review as a member of the IRB, and was appointed CEO in 2006. She has led the Quorum business through two AAHRPP accreditations and a successful expansion into Canada. Prior to joining Quorum Review, Ms. Gearhart practiced law in both the private sector, specializing in health care regulatory law for hospitals, clinics and other institutions, and the public sector, working for the Office of Attorney General protecting vulnerable populations. Ms. Gearhart also serves as Treasurer of the Consortium of Institutional Review Boards and Vice President for the Northwest Association for Biomedical Research’s Board of Directors.

Ms. Carbary regularly delivers IRB-focused presentations covering such topics as: electronic consenting (eConsent), HIPAA requirements, and safety reporting. Ms. Carbary is a member of the Northwest Association for Biomedical Research and Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research. She received her Juris Doctor from Seattle University in 2007, and was admitted to the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) in the fall of 2007. Prior to joining Quorum Review in 2009, Ms. Carbary worked as a Regulatory analyst at Western IRB.
