The program, held March 31st in Miami, is part of an annual effort pushed by The Atlantic and The Atlantic Cities presenting the most innovative ideas and issues that today’s global cities and neighborhoods face in their daily activities.
The event got together some great thought leaders from some of the coolest accelerators to promising startups to venture capital firms and angel investors like Sam Altam from Y Combinator, Michael Jones from Google and Andres Moreno from Open English. Belatrix’s founder Alex Robbio was invited as a panelist to explore the lifecycle of a startup and outline the shared characteristics of high potential ventures to achieve a sustainable growth. He shared his personal experience starting when he first arrived to the United States back in 2001 with no contacts and no investments. In 2002, he started building the company along with his father Luis and his brother Federico from a garage, with just four engineers and very few resources. “I was honored that Endeavor and The Atlantic chose me to share Belatrix Software’s entrepreneurial story, it was fun and rewarding to hopefully inspire future entrepreneurs,” shared Robbio.
“I think it’s very exciting that the start-up scene is so vibrant in South Florida with so many great ventures coming to life. As an Endeavor Entrepreneur, I am particularly happy to see the key role that Endeavor is starting to play in accelerating this ecosystem.” The huge growth of Belatrix from a tiny company to a multinational enterprise that has already worked with firms like Disney, Adobe and AOL is a clear example of effort and compromise combined with technical excellence and the unique environment that Miami provides, full of energy and innovation.
At the panel, people were really interested in the effort and investment Belatrix makes in education and training. “I enjoyed seeing how much interest our approach to talent recruitment and development got from the audience; in particular, our professional development program which starts with our “Casting Calls.” Belatrix castings are designed to attract recruiters and trigger and test their engineering knowledge and team work skills, key values at Belatrix. The best future engineers win the opportunity to access Belatrix’s internship program and open positions.
