HNTB Corporation, an infrastructure solutions firm celebrating its 100th anniversary nationwide and 60th anniversary in Florida, has named Chris Lory, PE, PMP as construction services leader for Florida and Georgia. In this role, Lory and his team of more than 70 professionals will manage complex major infrastructure construction projects in the Southeast.
Lory had served as interim construction engineering and inspection services leader for the past 12 months; and during this period, HNTB was successful in winning signature projects in Florida such as the Sisters Creek high bridge replacement in Jacksonville, the Interstate 95 concrete rehabilitation project in Miami and Interstate 4 managed lanes construction oversight in Orlando.
As a result of HNTB’s involvement with some of Florida’s most high-profile CEI projects, the firm is actively expanding its practice in the region. Currently, HNTB is working on Orlando’s SunRail Phase 1, the Miami Intermodal Center, the recently opened Interstate 595 reconstruction in Broward County, CR 210 interchange in Jacksonville and State Road 739 (Winkler) in Fort Myers.
In Georgia, HNTB is working with the Georgia Department of Transportation and Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.
Lory joined HNTB as vice president and Florida director of strategic projects in November 2011. He has more than 26 years of experience ranging from conceptual engineering though construction, with expertise in complex roadway design, program management and tolling facilities.
“Chris understands the unique opportunities and immense challenges facing infrastructure development in the Southeast,” said Adrian Share, PE, senior vice president and Florida district leader. “Chris and his team have tremendous collective experience that will serve transportation agencies well as they grapple with population growth, funding shortages and the need to deliver programs quickly.”
Lory has extensive experience with complex design and reconstruction projects, including consulting work with departments of transportation throughout the Southeast, including Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. He also has worked with the Maryland State Highway Administration, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, CalTrans and the San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor Agency in Orange County, Calif. Major project work has included the reconstruction of the Orlando downtown interchange between State Route 408 and I-4, interchanges on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge reconstruction project in Washington, D.C., and Interstate 85 reconstruction in North Carolina.
He is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina and Florida and is certified as a project management professional. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Florida Engineering Society and the Project Management Institute, and he currently serves on the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers transportation committee and the CEI subcommittee.
