Detroit, Michigan (PRWEB) April 10, 2014

Techweek, the conference dedicated to showcasing innovation ecosystems in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and New York, today announced it is coming to Detroit in May. Techweek Detroit’s conference and expo will take place on Thursday, May 22 and Friday, May 23 at the former Federal Reserve Building in downtown Detroit located at 160 Fort Street. Admission prices range from $30 - $199 and can be purchased at http://techweek.com/detroit/#register. Additional events surrounding Techweek Detroit will take place starting Monday, May 19 and will culminate on Saturday, May 24 at the Movement Electronic Music Festival.

With its flagship event in Chicago projecting more than 15,000 attendees this June, Techweek plans to bring a similar format and energy to the Motor City. Techweek features presentations from top tech CEOs, as well as various events including a technology expo, startup LAUNCH competition, Food Truck Face Off, FashionTECH Runway Show and nightly after-parties.

Techweek Detroit will host a series of summits on topics including City of the Future, DevSummit, EduTECH, IT Summit, Startup Summit, AutoTECH, HealthTECH, and Future of Media. Speakers will include leading entrepreneurs and tech tycoons such as Josh Linkner, NY Times bestselling author and Partner, Detroit Venture Partners; Rajen Ruparell, Founder, City Deal/SVP Global Sales, Groupon; and Steve Hannah, CEO, The Onion among others. The expo will be packed with companies big and small including Avaya, Comcast, SunTel, and Bizdom portfolio companies.

“There is a palpable sense of opportunity in downtown Detroit right now. Entrepreneurs, business leaders and innovators of all kinds are blazing new trails in support of the city’s resurgence. That feeling of being on the cutting edge of a positive and exciting change is what attracted Techweek to Detroit,” said Sam Kennedy, Executive Director at Techweek.

Detroit has seen rapid growth in recent startup activity and venture capital investment. Techweek’s expansion to Detroit will strengthen the technology and entrepreneurial landscape across the city, and state of Michigan, by bringing local tech companies, startups, and investors together under one roof. In addition to being event sponsors, mortgage lender Quicken Loans, Detroit Venture Partners and Opportunity Detroit were instrumental in attracting Techweek to Detroit.

“When I moved from San Francisco to Detroit in 2011, I was amazed at the lack of core tech conferences in the city. I am extremely pleased to be Chairman of the Detroit Executive Advisory Board for the inaugural Techweek Detroit, ushering in a new era of inspirational events and conferences, supporting the emerging technology startup ecosystem in metro Detroit,” said Ted Serbinski, Partner at Detroit Venture Partners.
