AGI Offers High-Performance Streaming Terrain Over the Web

AGI's STK Terrain Server provides out-of-the-box, optimized terrain for use with its STK software or the Cesium WebGL globe.

Analytical Graphics, Inc. (AGI) announces STK Terrain Server, an out-of-the-box, optimized source of terrain for use with AGI’s Systems Tool Kit (STK) software or applications built using the open source Cesium WebGL globe. Given STK Terrain Server’s open format, third-party implementations can also leverage the technology. Geospatial professionals can populate the STK Terrain Server with AGI’s pre-processed terrain, along with their own terrain data, to create a blended terrain mosaic. The STK Terrain Server is currently available for use with Cesium, and is offered as an online subscription or can be delivered on a private network. It will work with existing STK software, including the free version, when it is officially released this summer. STK Terrain Server will be demonstrated April 14-17 at the GEOINT Symposium in Tampa, FL, or you can try it out at http://www.agi.com/stk-terrain-server.

“There is a great need for terrain, but there is currently no standard method for obtaining and processing it, and doing so can be tedious due to the size of the files and the formats they come in,” says Todd Smith, AGI director of geospatial technology. “STK Terrain Server provides an efficient way to obtain, share and blend pre-processed AGI terrain with your own terrain. All you need is a network connection. “
