The Okanagan Youth Dance Society hosted the first annual National Dance Day Flash Mob on Saturday, April 26th at the Okanagan College Kelowna Campus. The non-profit organization reached out to the community to bring together dancers and the public to celebrate National Dance Week & International Dance Day. The event brought together dance communities from throughout the Okanagan to share their love of dancing and celebrate the International Dance Event.
Scheduled for release today on Tuesday April 29th, National Dance Day, the attached video is the successful result of this effort. We had an exciting afternoon and an amazing turn out. A large group of enthusiastic dancers came to the Okanagan Collage courtyard to celebrate international dance week.
About The Okanagan Youth Dance Society: The Okanagan Youth Dance Society was founded in 2009 to support our member dancers through fundraising activities that would ease the financial burden and increase the opportunities for further advancement in the fine & performing arts. We are a registered non-profit organization and adhere to the strict guidelines set under the Society Act of BC. Each year OKYDS provides financial support to member dancers for expenses related to training, travel and competition, including accommodations, costumes and workshop tuition. We also plan and fund team-building events and specialized clinics (e.g. sports psychologists, nutritionists) for Company dancers, provide healthy food during competitions and shows, and engage the community through events such as National Dance Week and Dance Into Your Heart.
