FlickWish, a start-up motion picture studio that is seeking to become the first audience-driven movie studio to allow aspiring and established filmmakers, actors, and passionate film fans the opportunity to compete online for the chance to write, direct, and star in a feature film, has announced a launch date of January 28, 2015 at Boston’s own WGBH Studios for the phase one debut of a new online platform that will give movie fans the true power of a studio executive by voting for and casting the film of their choice.

As reported by David Harris, tech editor for The Boston Business Journal, and Scott Kirsner, tech columnist for The Boston Globe, FlickWish founder and CEO Bill Harris announced, “We have launched an Indiegogo campaign that is built around our launch celebration at WGBH Studios, whereby our contributors will receive VIP tickets and webcast access to the event and exclusive behind-the-scenes access to our phase one development prior to our launch.”

With the movie-going audience the main focus of FlickWish’s mission, Harris is seeking to “level the playing field.” “We want to give everyone a chance to become part of a feature film,” Harris said. “Movie fans are very savvy and hold more power over the industry than any studio chief could possibly dream of. They deserve to unleash that power and usher in a new era.”
