Youngstown, Ohio (PRWEB) May 05, 2014
A product fair featuring companies that specialize in medical supplies for ostomy patients is slated for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 13 at Humility House, 755 Ohltown Road, Austintown.
ConvaTec, Hollister, Coloplast and Nu-Hope are among the companies that will be represented during the fair, which takes place during the monthly meeting of the Youngstown Area Ostomy Support Group.
The Youngstown Area Ostomy Support Group, sponsored by Humility of Mary Health Partners, provides ostomy patients and their families and friends the opportunity to share experiences while receiving ongoing education and information.
Close to a million people in the United States, thousands in the Youngstown-Warren area alone, have ostomies, reports Anna Fitzgerald, enterostomal therapy nurse at St. Elizabeth Health Center and founder of the Youngstown Area Ostomy Support Group. Ostomies are often required by patients suffering from ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, cancer, diverticulitis or colitis.
Meetings of the Youngstown Area Ostomy Support Group take place the second Tuesday of each month with meeting places alternating between Humility House and St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center. Meetings are open to the public, refreshments are provided and parking is free.
The Youngstown Area Ostomy Support Group is a member of the United Ostomy Association of America Inc. (UOAA), a national network for bowel and urinary diversion support groups in the United States.
