In this blues guitar lesson sample video, now available on YouTube.com, Jon MacLennan teaches a cool pedal steel country lick.

(PRWEB) May 07, 2014

The Pedal Steel Guitar is built on legs and is played horizontally. The instrument is outfitted with pedals to bend the strings pitch and it is played with a guitar slide. The Pedal Steel Guitar is a staple in the sound of country music.

“Today we are going to practice some pedal steel country licks over the blues form, the 12 bar blues,” says MacLennan. Jon demonstrates this easy country lick as follows; 3rd finger on the 12th fret of the 2nd string and bend that note up one whole step and follow that with the 12th fret of the first string with 4th finger. “We’re trying to get the sound of an A chord,” says MacLennan. Next Jon moves to the four chord, D, which he demonstrates as follows; bar your 4th finger across the 10th fret of the first two strings and middle finger on the 9th fret of the 3rd string. Jon picks all three strings simultaneously and bends the 3rd string up one whole step. For the final step, the five chord, which is E, Jon moves the lick for the four chord up one whole step so that you are on the 12th fret of the first two strings and the 11th fret of the 3rd string. Jon continues this easy guitar lesson by demonstrating the licks over a backing track. Guitar tab’s are available for this blues guitar lesson at BluesGuitar.com.
