Milford, PA (PRWEB) May 22, 2014
Clarion Safety Systems, a leading designer and manufacturer of safety signs and labels, is pleased to announce that, as part of its ongoing partnership with the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), it has once again partnered with the ASSE Foundation to sponsor an annual scholarship, the Clarion Safety Systems Doctoral Scholarship.
The 2014 Clarion Safety Systems Doctoral Scholarship was awarded to Marie-Claude Lavoie, a PhD candidate at the University of Maryland’s Department of Epidemiology and Public Health. Prior to her doctorate, Lavoie worked in the field of occupational health in Latin America and the Caribbean, where she witnessed the importance of safety signs and labels in providing warnings to ensure worker’s health and safety. In her doctorate program, her areas of research include occupational health, injury prevention, health policy and health disparities.
“We’re pleased to have this opportunity to help pave the way for future safety communications professionals, to help further themselves and the safety profession,” says Geoffrey Peckham, CEO of Clarion Safety Systems.
The Clarion Safety Systems Doctoral Scholarship program was established in April 2012, providing for a $5,000 scholarship to be awarded annually to an aspiring safety communication professional pursuing a doctoral degree in occupational safety and health.
