Cary, NC (PRWEB) June 03, 2014

United States Patent No. 8,589,184 has been issued to Cary, NC-based TrialCard Incorporated for a “method of delivering goods and services via media.” This invention introduces a co-pay card wherein the card’s value at the point of sale is determined by (a) the patient’s co-pay requirement and (b) financial rules established by the manufacturer. This provides manufacturers with a tool to limit the total out-of-pocket co-payment that a patient must contribute for a particular prescription, regardless of the insurance company’s co-payment requirements. The invention uses an algorithm that compares the patient’s total co-payment with the financial rules set by the manufacturer. This invention levels the playing field for prescription drug cost.

Mark Bouck, President of TrialCard, commented, “Our analytics shows that when we empower brand managers with the ability to customize their programs’ financial rules by allowing them to specifically target their patients’ needs, it results in more redemptions, increased patient adherence and better health outcomes for patients.”

The invention uses financial rules to determine if the manufacturer will pay the co-payment requirement for the patient (in part or total). This invention limits the amount charged back to the manufacturer by implementing customized financial rules for each patient. The innovation leverages TrialCard’s co-pay card technology by blending program business rules intelligence and co-pay variable values in a medium to promote pharmaceutical brands. This patent extends TrialCard’s Adjusting Value™ technology (U.S. Patent No. 7,925,531), which optimizes promotional programs such as “Pay No More Than…” or “Save Up To…” offerings with a prescription co-pay card.

TrialCard holds a variety of patents for its customizable solutions and continues to improve patient access to medicines and to facilitate patient reimbursement, while providing measurable ROI to pharmaceutical brands. The issuance of U.S. Patent No. 8,589,184 is one more example of the TrialCard Difference.
