World's largest dating site for motorcycle enthusiasts, BikerKiss.com, recently did a research on the gender ratio of its website members. Not surprisingly, male members occupied a much larger proportion (64%) than female members (36%). However, the discovery was far more than that. Going deeper with the statistics, BikerKiss found out some interesting facts that had taken place on the site, and probably even in the whole online dating field.
In contrast to the previous statistics that BikerKiss accumulated over the past year, female members are in a rapid increase. Male bikers aged 30-50 used to be the majority on the site. A year ago they took up as high as 46% of all the BikerKiss members, but now the number has dropped down to 41%. On the contrary, female members are on the rise, notably female members aged from 18-30. They went from 5% (last year) to 10% (this year). The percentage of female members aged from 30-40 also increased a little bit, being two percent higher than last year.
What caused this? "I think we need to accept the fact that motorcycle isn't what only guys love. Female motorcyclists are increasing, both in quantity and quality." said Brian, marketing department manager of BikerKiss, "It also implies that young women are now more likely to search online for dates. Our life circle is limited, but online community expands it and provides us a different viewpoint of dating."
Another interesting phenomenon on BikerKiss is that female members are becoming more willing to send winks and emails to male members than before. "It's really pointless to be shy or reserved on an online dating site. If you find someone you think is worth giving a shot, then start talking! That's how I met my fiancee." said Ali, a gold member on BikerKiss who met her fiancee Joe on the site and were getting married in the coming June.
