The selection process is much more likely to happen online than in person so have stunning images of your pieces on pure white backgrounds.

In a featured article on FashionMingle.net, Michelle Pajak-Reynolds detailed her best practices for collaborating with stylists and fashion magazine editors to promote designer collections. “2014 has been an exciting year of collaborating with a variety of stylists on runway shows, red carpet events, and editorials,” said Pajak-Reynolds. “[It’s] an important tool for promoting your designs.”

Developing a professional image of the collection that is indicative of the designer’s signature is recommended by Pajak-Reynolds. In order for stylists and fashion magazine editors to select the most appropriate pieces for their project, each image must include detailed descriptions. “The selection process is much more likely to happen online than in person so have stunning images of your pieces on pure white backgrounds,” Pajak-Reynolds said.

In the article, the designer also discussed the importance of making business arrangements early in the promotion process. “Before agreeing to loan your designs,” Pajak-Reynolds said, “it is critical to have all of the details for the project decided upon before any items are shipped.”

Considerable key factors include the length of the loan, shipping method including fees and reimbursement, insurance, assuming responsibility for loss or damage, and designer credits.

Pajak-Reynolds stressed the importance of getting all collaboration details in writing and that designers loaning their couture jewelry to fashion editors and stylists need to understand the entire collaboration process.

The importance of giving credit to those in the fashion industry involved in the project on social media sites and websites was also addressed. “List and tag the stylist, editor, celebrity or model, photographer, hair and makeup artists, and publication or event name in all of your social media posts and marketing for the press your pieces have received.”

Michele Pajak-Reynolds has been designing jewelry since the age of 5. Every detail in a Pajak-Reynolds design possesses a love and tradition of artisanal hand-craftsmanship found only in true couture. Pajak-Reynolds’s collections have been exhibited in international art gallery shows and worn by celebrities including Sophia Bush, Nona Gaye and Miss Brazil 2010 Debora Lyra.
