I will encourage them to dream big, think about becoming data scientists, and talk to them about what it takes to succeed.

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 05, 2014

It has been a few decades since Bronx-born Joe Caserta last walked the halls of his middle school, J.H.S. 127 on Purdy Street in the Castle Hill/Parkchester neighborhood of the Bronx, and proudly sat in the auditorium of Truman High School on his graduation day.

That changes on June 23rd when Joe returns to Truman H.S. to talk to the J.H.S. 127 graduating class on their way to high school and, if Joe has his way, onto rewarding careers in technology and data science.

Not one to forget his roots, Joe Caserta was born, raised and educated in the Bronx and went on to establish and grow Caserta Concepts, a leading technology innovation and consulting firm he founded in New York City in 2001. Caserta Concepts works with CIOs and their IT organizations to help deliver analytic solutions to gain new business insights through a better understanding of their data. Joe’s world today is all about big data solutions, advanced analytics and business intelligence, and he is hoping to inspire graduates of his former school to consider the same.

“There is no where else I would rather be on Monday June 23rd than at Truman High School addressing the graduates of J.H.S. 127,” said Joe Caserta. “The ages 13 and 14 are perhaps a child’s most impressionable time and to be asked to talk to these students about my relentless ambition to be an entrepreneur in the technology field and what the future can hold for them is an honor. I will encourage them to dream big, think about becoming data scientists, and talk to them about what it takes to succeed.”

Joe is not alone in his confidence in technology as a career path for youth. Sparked by the need for innovative initiatives in education, the state of New York has awarded a grant to fund a technology-centric alternative high school experience called P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School), serving students in the lower Hudson Valley – Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties.

J.H.S. 127 in the Bronx serves 6th, 7th and 8th graders and is also home to a special program “PEAK” for select 5th graders. The school has a diverse population and is known for its dedicated and enthusiastic staff and its support of music and the arts. The principal, Harry Sherman, a former youth minister, financial analyst and MBA, has been there since 2005 and gets high marks for his initiatives to improve academic performance and social awareness.
