The 2014 flying season has begun at the Academy of Model Aeronautics’ national headquarters in Muncie IN. The facility is on a beautiful, 1,100-acre site, which features flying venues for all forms of aeromodeling.
Several large events are planned that will attract competitors and hobbyists from across the country and around the world. These events include the Extreme Flight Championships (XFC), the National Aeromodeling Championships (Nats), International Radio Controlled Helicopter Association (IRCHA) Jamboree, the 2014 Indiana Warbird Campaign, and the inaugural National Model Aviation Day celebration. XFC is set for June 13-15. This event brings together the world’s best RC model pilots to demonstrate their extreme flying skills in this entertaining competition. The public is invited to be part of the largest single-venue RC gathering in the world: the IRCHA Jamboree. Scheduled August 6-10, this unique event hosts more than 1,000 pilots, several on-site activities, vendors, camping, and more. Additional information can be found at http://www.ircha.org.
Celebrating its 11th year, the Indiana Warbird Campaign will be held August 28-30. The air show features the best Scale RC airplanes and pilots from across the US and Canada. Join AMA and clubs across the country in celebration of the history of model aviation by attending a National Model Aviation Day event in your area on August 16, 2014. AMA and all participating clubs are asked to help raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. The event held at the International Aeromodeling Center in Muncie IN will feature a community sale for residents to sell their treasures and buy items, live air shows, free admission to the National Model Aviation Museum, and hands-on activities.
