Very few diet plans go along with my philosophy on healthy eating however the Dukan Diet’s emphasis on lean proteins for weight loss and weight maintenance falls right in line with my thinking.

The Dukan Diet, a four-phase weight loss plan created by French doctor Pierre Dukan, has signed culinary dietitian and television host Gina Keatley as the new spokeswoman. As an advocate of cooking and eating wholesome, natural, lean protein foods, Keatley is the ideal spokeswoman for the Dukan Diet.

“Very few diet plans go along with my philosophy on healthy eating however the Dukan Diet’s emphasis on lean proteins for weight loss and weight maintenance falls right in line with my thinking,” explains Keatley. “One of the things I love most about the Dukan Diet is the list of 100 allowed foods that include several of my favorite options like seafood, which is packed with vitamins and minerals and is a fantastic low-calorie protein source.”

In addition to educating people about the Dukan Diet and how they can implement the weight loss plan into their life, Keatley will also be promoting the Dukan Diet’s new book, “The Dukan Diet Made Easy”. This new book breaks down the four phases of the diet in simple, easy to understand steps to help readers incorporate the diet into their every day life.

As a Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist, Keatley can easily clarify and dispel any misconceptions people may have about the Dukan Diet. For instance, the Dukan Diet is not a depravation diet, in fact dieters are allowed to eat unlimited amounts of lean protein and are discouraged from counting calories or weighing food. It’s only in the first phase, which lasts one to seven days, that dieters strictly consume lean protein plus oat bran, however there are a wide array of food options in this phase that offer all the vitamins and nutrients that a person needs. Also, in general high protein diets such as the Dukan Diet do not cause kidney problems, and drinking the recommended 1.5 liters of water per day combined with eating the daily recommended amount of oat bran will help keep you healthy and on track for weight loss.

“Instead of a diet, the Dukan Diet is more of a healthy lifestyle plan that shows people how to eat healthy, phase by phase, for the rest of their life. What’s better, it works for all different types of people, whether you have 10 pounds to lose or 110,” adds Keatley.

Keatley is recognized for her food-focused television shows, her campaign for the use of fresh foods in low-income areas in addition to being an American Diabetes Ambassador and the founder of her own private practice. She has been recognized for work in philanthropy, being named a CNN Hero and L’Oreal Woman of Worth. Additionally, The Women Chefs and Restaurateurs, American Culinary Federation and The James Beard Foundation have recognized Gina for her culinary and humanitarian impact. In 2013, Gina Keatley was honored with The President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition Community Leadership Award.
