Syracuse, NY (PRWEB) June 19, 2014

On Friday, June 20, at 7 p.m., the HearStrong Foundation will hold a special ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of the Mike Glenn All-Star Basketball Camp for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, held this year at Southwest DeKalb High School, 2863 Kelley Chapel Road in Decatur, GA.

The foundation will honor Mike Glenn as a HearStrong Ambassador for his longtime work to empower children with hearing difficulties to overcome challenges and chase their dreams, as well as help present a deserving attendee with a brand-new pair of EarQ hearing devices.

Glenn started the camp 35 years ago with the goal of helping young boys and girls with all levels of hearing difficulties improve their basketball and life skills. Today, the camp is attended by hundreds of young athletes from about 12 different states.

The HearStrong Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that recognizes the accomplishments of those who overcome hearing loss, is sponsored by EarQ, a business and marketing consulting firm for the hearing healthcare industry, and the National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA), a supporter of the camp.

Melissa Wikoff, Au.D., F-AAA, of Atlanta Hearing Associates, a preferred EarQ provider, will recognize the attendees on behalf of the foundation and EarQ.

“On behalf of the NBRPA, we are pleased to support Mike’s efforts with his camp and encouraging those with hearing difficulties through teaching the fundamentals of basketball as well as some much-needed life skills along the way. Even more, we are pleased that our partner, EarQ, is stepping up with a donation of hearing aids to one of his campers,” said Mark Scoggins, CRO of the NBRPA.
