In today’s easy guitar lesson Jon demonstrates some Eric Johnson style triads that incorporate the technique of hybrid picking, which is picking the lower note with the guitar pick and picking the higher notes with your fingers, a technique used widely by country guitarists. The example that MacLennan uses in this lesson is in the key of G and uses triads to follow the scale. The first example consists of the 3rd fret of the 4th string with 2nd finger, 3rd fret of the 3rd string with first finger and 7th fret of the 2nd string with 3rd finger which makes a G major triad. Next is Am (A minor) which consists of moving the triad shape up one whole step and flatten the 4th finger by one half step. Next Jon moves up one whole step for Bm (B minor) and then up one whole step with the original triad shape for C and then up one whole step for D. MacLennan continues this sequence all the way through the scale. Guitar TAB’s are available for this easy guitar lesson at GuitarControl.com.
