Private Firefighters on the Lines in 2013

'The thought of someone intentionally putting homeowners, citizens and our firefighters in harms way is unthinkable,' said Deborah Miley, Executive Director, National Wildfire Suppression Association.

Lyons, OR (PRWEB) June 24, 2014

Today, the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the National Wildfire Suppression Association added its commitment of at least $2500 to the Arson Reward Fund setup as a result of the Multi-Agency Investigation Team. The funds being raised are an effort to obtain information about the recent fire on Cascade Timberlands property near Bend, Oregon. The funds may be awarded if the information should lead to a successful conviction of the person responsible.

"To have someone intentionally put homeowners, citizens and our firefighters in harm's way is unthinkable," said Deborah Miley, Executive Director for the National Wildfire Suppression Association. "It is hard enough to send these folks into the fire when it is caused by nature or an accident, without risking the lives of all firefighters to extinguish a blaze set intentionally. We encourage anyone with information that might be helpful to contact the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-877-876-8477 (TIPS)."

The Pacific Northwest Chapter of the National Wildfire Suppression Association represents over 75% of all professional private firefighters in Oregon.
