CPCU-Loman Education Foundation Awards $120,000 in Financial Aid to College Students
Malvern, PA (PRWEB) June 26, 2014 -- The CPCU-Loman Education Foundation has awarded $120,000 in financial aid to 51 college students actively seeking careers in the risk management and insurance industry through the 2014 CPCU-Loman Education Foundation Internship Financial Aid Program.
Each year, the CPCU-Loman Education Foundation, through the CPCU Society, offers financial aid to students to help them offset the costs of travel, housing and other expenses that may prevent them from pursuing an internship in the insurance industry.
“The CPCU-Loman Education Foundation Internship Financial Aid Program was the factor that allowed me to accept my internship with Lloyd’s, and I could not be more grateful,” said financial aid recipient Jonathan Blount, “My internship will give me the critical exposure to the insurance world that I need in order to be successful down the road.”
To be considered for financial aid, each applicant had to be a college sophomore, junior or senior who applied for or accepted a paid insurance-related summer internship that required them to work an average of 30 to 40 hours per week for a minimum of eight weeks total.
“Through this program, we make it possible for students to participate in these valuable internship experiences regardless of their financial means,” said Kevin Brown, executive director of the CPCU Society. “Not only does this enable students to proactively seek out opportunities in insurance, but it also helps prepare them for their future careers in our industry.”
