The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce will host the third annual Stars & Stripes Over San Antonio event in downtown San Antonio on July 4. The event will be held from 6 – 10 p.m. in Parking Lot A at the Alamodome featuring live music, food and beverages and the city’s largest and longest fireworks display starting at 9:30 p.m. Admission for the event area is $2 for those 13 and over. Those with a valid Military ID will get in free.
A new addition to the program on the stage will be a naturalization service, when approximately 20 military service men and women will be sworn in as new U.S. citizens.
“Each year’s positive response reinforced the knowledge that Military City, USA is the best place to show our appreciation for our military with a one-of-a kind spectacular downtown fireworks event on our national holiday,” said Richard Perez, President and CEO of The Chamber.
No streets will close for the event. The fireworks will be centered just east of the Tower of the Americas, and will be visible for miles. They will be the highlight of the evening and include the largest shells in the city and a full 20 minute show, choreographed by music broadcast on Q101.9 FM and the iHeart Radio app.
The event will also feature inflatable castles, bungee runs and obstacle courses along with face painters and balloon artists in the H-E-B Kid’s Zone.
Live music throughout the evening will be provided by The Klocks. There will be plenty of beverage booths and food options including some ready-made food booths and several of the city’s most popular food trucks.
With the addition of the fireworks program, San Antonio now tops many tourism lists for best places for July 4th. Tourism industry leaders have again expressed their enthusiasm about the program because it adds to the holiday experience for the thousands who will be visiting from out of town.
