The sun may have started to shine but we still seem to be paying through the roof for heating bills this summer, according to research released today by Harrow based heating experts http://www.rightgas.com. Despite energy watchdogs putting pressure on the big six in the wake of the news of falling wholesale prices, homeowners are still feeling the pinch this summer when it comes to their gas bills. Two thirds (65%) of Londoners claim to be spending more on their heating bills this summer than going out, with the same number citing their heating bills as one of their biggest concerns.
The research from http://www.rightgas.com shows that nearly two million homeowners in Greater London are paying the same throughout the year for their heating, partly because of direct debit schemes and partly because people are not turning their heating off. One in eight homeowners admits to leaving their heating on throughout the summer, with more than a quarter of all Londoners saying that they feel the cold all year round (16% of men vs. 31% of women).
Dave Wright, MD at Rightgas said: “It is clear from the research that heating bills continue to be a big concern for local residents this summer. It has never been more important than now to think about how we can make savings around the home, especially in relation to our gas bills.”
