"Playground Chicago is the TV equivalent of that in-the-know friend who always knows the best spots to entertain the family”
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 08, 2014
Chicago area parents will soon have a new resource in the never-ending quest to find exciting and affordable family-friendly activities in the city and suburbs. Playground Chicago is a new TV show and online platform that gives families the inside scoop on the area’s hottest attractions as well as helpful how-to segments devoted to cooking, parenting and family life.
Playground Chicago will premiere on WTTW Channel 11 at 11 a.m. on July 12, with a second airing at 12:30 p.m. on July 13. WTTW Prime (channel 11.2 over the air, Comcast channel 370) will air encore presentations at 6:30 p.m. on July 14 and 6 p.m. on July 17.
Playground Chicago is a fast-paced, 30-minute television show that is hyper-local and features the opinions of real moms and dads who recommend and review the best places to bring their kids in the city and suburbs.
During the show, three parents video chat from across Chicagoland with host Alison de Castro to share the good, the bad and the downright ugly experiences they’ve had while visiting the area’s countless family destinations. These “test families” put the establishments to the test, and the show features an honest and informative discussion that gives parents the information they need before they pack the van for adventure.
“There’s an embarrassment of riches in this town and in the surrounding suburbs when it comes to family-centric activities,” says the show’s executive producer and co-creator Jim Distasio. “That’s why it’s important to have in-depth reviews from the best critics out there — other parents. Playground Chicago is the TV equivalent of that in-the-know friend with kids who always knows the best spots to entertain the family, whether it’s on a rainy morning or sunny weekend.”
Mark McCutcheon, the show’s other co-creator and executive producer, says Playground Chicago makes it easier for families to make the most of their time together. “So many people stress over balancing work and family time,” he says, “so we made it a priority to create a show that entertains you while taking the guesswork out of planning those memory-making adventures.”
In addition to the WTTW airings, Playground Chicago will be available for viewing online on July 12 at http://www.playgroundchicago.com. The website also features additional content related to the show, attractions, recipes, and offers a forum for parents to weigh in with their own favorite or not-so-favorite spots. Playground Chicago also has a social media presence on Facebook (facebook.com/playgroundchicago) as well as Twitter (@PlaygroundChgo).
