It includes fifteen topical segments of guided personal growth and positive psychology stimulation on finding happiness and success through improved motivation, innovation, aided luck, reinvention and service. It is followed by four appendices that include:
- "Getting A Job - And Holding On In The Meantime"
- "You and Your Future" - a career and job hunting guide for college students
- "Your Unfinished Life"- a full book by Lawrence J Danks on finding happiness and success in the balance of an unfinished life, through kindness and service
- A treasury of motivational happiness and success quotations
The site reviews basic concepts of finding happiness, then moves to a higher level focusing on achieving the broader goal of well-being. In addition to providing many ready to use happiness and success ideas, the "Happiness and Success Resource Center" serves as a convenient bridge to further sources of expert information. It emphasizes building self-confidence and developing a positive attitude, including "Thirteen Steps for Avoiding Stress."
Site developer, Lawrence J Danks, a professor of management at Camden County College in New Jersey says, "We are the ones who define what happiness and success mean by doing what produces gratification and well-being for us. There needs to be substance, based on values that are important to us. Success shouldn't be defined by others or by the media." That is further detailed in the website segment "Becoming Successful," which includes "Nine Steps To Success", "Be Vulnerable and Lose The Fear" and what needs to done to "Be A Good Communicator."
"The Happiness and Success Resource Center" also includes advice on applying basic management techniques on setting goals, decision making, and control to "self-management," including concepts such as the importance of thinking small, growing faster by making frequent "little bets", and developing the proper mindset for improving our luck. The overall purpose of the website is to encourage any visitor to recharge themselves with positive, research proven concepts that will provide the impetus for reinvention, whether it is in a current situation or position, in anticipation of a career change, or in preparation for part-time or full-time retirement.
