I wanted to create a memento that merged the great histories of our two companies, inspired nostalgia and could be passed down through generations.
Louisville, Kentucky (PRWEB) July 10, 2014
Pappy & Company and Heritage Handcrafted have partnered to release a limited-edition Pappy Van Winkle Signature Gift Set, crafted with reclaimed bourbon barrel wood used to produce the world-famous Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve bourbon. The gift sets are now available exclusively on the Pappy & Company website.
A First for Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery:
Each gift set features an individually numbered box that was handmade using reclaimed wood staves. These staves, the narrow strips of wood that form the sides of a barrel, are from the world-renowned Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky — marking a first for the distillery. The barrels were originally used for aging Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve 23-year and 20-year bourbon (called “the most popular bourbon on earth” by Louisville Magazine and “the bourbon so popular even billionaires can’t find it” by the Wall Street Journal).
Each gift set also includes:
- A crystal decanter and two crystal bourbon glasses hand-blown by the world-renowned Glencairn Crystal Studio of Scotland and beautifully etched with the Old Rip Van Winkle logo
- A Spanish cedar-lined cigar compartment featuring custom Pappy Van Winkle cigars, hand-rolled by the Tesa Cigar Company in Esteli, Nicaragua
A Historic Collaboration:
This marks the first collaboration between Pappy & Company and Heritage Handcrafted, two iconic, tradition-steeped brands.
“We wanted to work with a designer who could authentically merge the history of Pappy with the fine detail we are known for,” said Carrie Van Winkle, who co-founded Pappy & Company with her sisters Louise and Chenault Van Winkle. The women are great-granddaughters of Julian P. “Pappy” Van Winkle, Sr. Pappy & Company offers dry goods and wares for the bourbon lifestyle.
Family tradition was also top of mind for Heritage Handcrafted, the nation’s leading designer and manufacturer of handcrafted furniture and gifts made from reclaimed whiskey and bourbon barrels. “I wanted to create a memento that merged the great histories of our two companies, inspired nostalgia and could be passed down through generations,” said James Broyhill, founder and lead designer of Heritage Handcrafted and great-grandson of the founder of Broyhill Furniture Industries.
Limited in production to only 250 and individually numbered, these highly exclusive gift sets will never be reproduced. The Pappy Van Winkle Signature Gift Set is available exclusively online at PappyCo.com at a price of $825.
