Maryland Addiction Recovery Center, the authority for comprehensive dual diagnosis addiction treatment in the Maryland area, is proud to announce their partnership with the national organization Young People in Recovery (YPR) and the local YPR-Maryland chapter in order to help create a “recovery ready Maryland.”

Young People in Recovery is a national organization whose mission is to create and cultivate local community-led chapters through grassroots organizing and training. The local chapters of YPR support young people seeking recovery by empowering them to obtain stable employment, secure suitable housing and explore continuing education.

“We believe that addiction must be treated by using a comprehensive approach, looking at all aspects of the person suffering,” Maryland Addiction Recovery Center Executive Director Sam Bierman said. “Addiction recovery is about more than stopping using or drinking. Treatment must look at underlying causes and conditions, outside influences, living conditions, family dynamics, vocational and social skills. YPR as an organization attempts to create a community of support for those in recovery in these areas. Because of this reason, there is a clear synergy between the missions of MARC and YPR.”

Maryland Addiction Recovery Center, located in Towson, MD, believes in a true comprehensive approach to the treatment of substance abuse in the Baltimore, MD area. This means approaching drug and alcohol treatment from a medical, a psychotherapeutic and a social services perspective. Additionally, treatment must look and treat key factors that influence and exacerbate addiction, including living environment, employment, family dynamics, education, personality disorders and behavior patterns.

According to Young People in Recovery CEO Justin Luke Riley, is it collaboration with organizations like Maryland Addiction Recovery Center that will further the YPR mission of creating recovery-ready communities in order to improve access to treatment, educational resources, employment opportunities and quality housing for those in and seeking recovery from addiction.

“With limited funding and a scarcity of resources, collaboration in the recovery community is needed more than ever,” Riley stated. “YPR National, YPR Maryland, and the Maryland Addiction Recovery Center is excited to strategically collaborate in order to help the most amount of people.”
