Silver Line connects Dulles International Airport (and travelers) to key Washington, DC locations and more lodging options

We couldn’t be happier to have a Metrorail stop right outside our door,” said Mike Chouri, General Manager of the Sheraton Tysons Hotel. “The Metrorail gives our guests easy, fast and direct access to key tourist and business points in Washington, DC.

Tysons, VA (PRWEB) July 23, 2014

Washington, DC’s long awaited Silver Line Metrorail will open its doors for the first time this Saturday. This expansion to the city’s current lines could translate to enormous business opportunities for the massively expanding Tysons area, located just outside the city. Not only will this new connection to Washington, DC help local area growth, but it will also expand the hotel options to those traveling to the nation’s capital and its surrounding areas.

“We couldn’t be happier to have a Metrorail stop right outside our door,” said Mike Chouri, General Manager of the Sheraton Tysons Hotel. “Not only are we just two stops from Tysons Corner Center, the region’s premiere shopping and dining complex, but the Metrorail gives our guests easy, fast and direct access to key tourist and business points in Washington, DC. We feel this is such a major milestone in the growth of the Tysons area. In fact, we celebrated this region’s evolution by changing the name of our hotel from Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner to Sheraton Tysons. We feel it better speaks to how the Tysons area has truly developed into a major component of the Washington, DC region.” Not only will the Silver Line give more lodging options, but will make visiting Washington, DC easier for those unfamiliar with the city’s layout and traffic patterns. A direct trip from the Sheraton Tysons to the Smithsonian will take approximately thirty minutes by Metro, about half the time of driving during rush hour.

“The Silver Line will not only benefit individual travelers but group meetings as well”, stated Chouri. “Those traveling from out of state will now have direct access to us from National Airport as well as Union Station. Additionally, those planning local meetings will have more options now that our 449 room hotel with 45,000 square feet of meeting space will be just steps (via Metrorail) from literally hundreds of companies and associations located in Washington, DC and throughout Northern Virginia.”

Those hotels already on the Metrorail system also see the expansion as a business opportunity. The Westin Arlington Gateway, an upscale hotel located in downtown Ballston, Virginia, is two blocks from the Orange Line, which will be sharing the track with the new Silver Line. “The Silver Line in Ballston is sure to add value to our current guests and open up opportunities for new clients from Northern Virginia that want to host their meetings in an area that is accessible to metro for their local attendees but close to countless restaurants for those staying overnight,” said David Gibbons, the hotel’s General Manager. “With so many businesses on the new Silver Line, just minutes from us, will position us to create some exciting partnerships with Northern Virginia meeting planners.”

“There are big expectations with the expansion and this will certainly mean exponential growth for local businesses,” stated Sami Zeitoun, Vice President of Operations for Crescent Hotels & Resorts, who manages eleven hotels in and around Washington, DC. “For example the Sheraton Reston Hotel and its neighbor Westin Reston Heights located in an upscale neighborhood in Northern Virginia are ideally situated to quickly become the perfect location for those visiting the region. With complimentary 24 hour shuttle to Dulles International Airport as well as to the new Reston-Wiehle Metrorail Station on the Silver Line, the dual hotel complex’s location connects this major international airport to the country’s capital city. Travelers will no longer be required to rent a car or be dependent on taxi service to make this connection.”

Inside Washington, DC proper, the Silver Line will run on the same rail as the system’s key Blue and Orange lines, two of the original three lines from when the system first opened in 1976. This plays an important role for the new Silver Line, making it a major transportation artery in Washington, DC with key stops including the US Capitol, The Smithsonian and National Mall, Foggy Bottom (close to Georgetown, a popular tourist location) among others. Additionally, with only one transfer visitors using the Silver Line can connect to Reagan National Airport, Union Station, the Pentagon, Arlington Cemetery, Chinatown and literally any other stop in the system’s network.
