On July 21, 2014, Auntie Belham’s Cabin Rentals announced that the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort has begun construction on a brand new roller coaster in Gatlinburg. The announcement came as part of the Gatlinburg cabin rental company revealing the top five unexpected places visitors can find roller coasters in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

“Ober Gatlinburg has been one of the most popular Gatlinburg attractions for over 50 years,” said a spokesperson for Auntie Belham’s. “With the addition of the new coaster, we are sure the ski resort will remain a popular family-friendly vacation destination for 50 more.”

Set to open this fall, the new roller coaster in Gatlinburg will be unlike any other mountain coaster in the Smoky Mountains. Located just under the peak of Mount Harrison, the new coaster will take guests on a 4,000-foot winding journey of the Smoky Mountains. The ride will last roughly five and a half minutes.

In addition to the new rides at Ober Gatlinburg, Auntie Belham’s also revealed that visitors to the area will soon find two more new coasters in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. One will be located on the Gatlinburg Parkway next to Traffic Light #2, and the second will be an add-on for the Pigeon Forge attraction, Goats on the Roof.

“Over the past year we have seen a sudden influx in the number of mountain coasters in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge,” said a spokesperson for Auntie Belham’s Cabin Rentals. “As a local business, we are not only excited for these new additions to draw traffic to the area, but we are also excited for our guests who will have the ability to experience these new thrills.”
