This July 20th to 30th 2014, the internationally acclaimed author and leadership trainer, Blair Singer, best known for his world class books, Little Voice Mastery, Team Code of Honor and Sales Dogs, hosted the world’s first leadership training with a difference: 19,341 feet up Mount Kilimanjaro.
Blair Singer’s Mountain Leadership Experience has been designed to raise essential funds for the Mwereni School Community for the blind, albino and orphan children in Africa. While they were there, Blair and fifteen friends, business partners and associates, supported young children who have much bigger mountains to climb to simply stay alive.
The fee for this trip included a generous contribution to the school. The money and their time will give them education, healthcare and support to have a chance in the world. In order to achieve this feat, Blair climbed Kili for the second time, accompanied by his team – many of whom are success stories in their own right. Two of those participants, Ben Eastman and Randy Zimnoch, put together an additional campaign called Raise the Roof to get even more funding for the Mwereni school and have already raised over $6,000.
According to Blair:-
“It is my utmost privilege to have participated in such a life changing experience for the second time. I climbed Kili last year with my son Ben and was utterly blown away by how those few days cleared my thinking and showed me the extraordinary value of being present in the moment. Just a few of the lessons I learned were about being a father, leadership, team, personal strength, connection to the planet, contribution and the majesty of nature. From my experience, I am confident this climb will have changed the lives of all those that participated, as it has mine and my son’s, while also helping blind and disadvantaged children in Africa. It is truly a win-win situation.
“We should never take success for granted. Each and every one of us can reach greater heights in work, life and love. Never assume we have reached our potential, or that we are destined for mediocrity or failure. The human spirit is an amazing thing. Once it is cracked open, the possibilities are absolutely endless,” added Blair.
It will also probably have been the most challenging thing they have taken on in their lives…physically and mentally. However, with the leadership from Kevin Cherilla (lead guide and co-founder of K2) and Kristen Sandquist (the other co-founder of K2) and all of their guides, they will have been in the best hands. Kevin says “Kili always has a special test and lesson for each person that takes her on. They will have found strength, grit and character that they never knew they had.”
