Mr. Sheppard will lead the Product Development, Engineering, Marketing, Quality Assurance, Business Intelligence, and Customer Service teams in GREE’s San Francisco office.
“We are thrilled to welcome Andrew to the team in San Francisco. His experience and passion for the industry and his track record with free-to-play and mobile gaming make him an ideal choice for us,” said Naoki Aoyagi, CEO of GREE International, Inc. “Over the past few years, GREE’s San Francisco and Vancouver teams have been steadily growing and our games and portfolio have seen tremendous success. We are now focused on the next step and are confident that Andrew’s expertise will help take us to that next level. We are all looking forward to working with him and integrating his vision into GREE’s strategic plans.“
Prior to joining GREE, Mr. Sheppard spent several years at Kabam helping develop the company’s global reputation and revenue by way of some of the mobile game market’s most successful free-to-play games. “GREE has navigated the rapidly evolving landscape for mobile games and maintained its position as one of the most successful companies in the world. Along the way, they have shown tremendous leadership and the flexibility to change with the technology and needs of the user. It is for this reason that GREE is an excellent next step for me,” said Sheppard. “I’m looking forward to learning from their successes in the free-to-play market here and in Japan and to leveraging my knowledge and experience in game distribution, development, and operations to build the next generation of mobile games for players around the world.”
As a global leader in free-to-play, GREE remains focused on building high-quality games for the mobile market. The company’s expertise includes developing long-term live-ops strategies for its games, which include regular content and feature updates for all of its existing titles. GREE will also continue to work with leading independent developers as part of its publishing division. GREE currently has over 350 employees located in San Francisco and Vancouver and has had multiple games featured on both the iOS and Android Top-Grossing charts.
