Codan Radio Communications, a division of Codan Limited (ASX-CDA), has announced the launch of a new transportable repeater, Vizor Interop, as an addition to their Land Mobile Radio (LMR) product range for the North American market.
Vizor Interop is a transportable repeater pre-programmed with mutual aid frequencies to provide communications interoperability between emergency response agencies on the ground during an emergency. The repeater is designed to be instantly deployable to enable communications between law enforcement, fire departments, ambulance services, National Guard and those first on-scene.
“Codan recognized a need for our first responders to be able to communicate immediately and that there currently wasn’t a product that enabled this. Utilizing the mutual aid frequencies designated by the FCC and APCO International, we designed a product that required no further configuration by first responders other than attaching an antenna and powering on,” said Ben Pearce, Regional Sales Director North America at Codan Radio Communications.
Vizor Interop includes all the advantages of Codan’s flagship Vizor product, including being the lightest and smallest transportable repeater available, as well as a rugged and easily transportable design, secure AES-256 encrypted communications, configuration as a repeaters and/or base station and interoperability with other P25 repeaters, base stations and subscribers.
“Communication and coordination during the first hours of an emergency is vital, we’ve designed Vizor Interop to help our responders talk to each other and help save lives,” said Mr Pearce.
