White Plains, NY (PRWEB) August 06, 2014
Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester (HPCW) has been named a Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited nonprofit, receiving a stamp of approval from the prestigious accrediting organization’s Charity Accountability Program. The distinction confirms HPCW’s ethical practices, fosters public confidence and encourages philanthropists to engage with the nonprofit.
The accreditation comes after a BBB Charity Review, an in-depth process that places nonprofits under the microscope. HPCW met all 20 of the BBB’s “Standards for Charity Accountability.” Among the standards are: outstanding oversight by a board of directors; a rigorous self-review policy; at least 65% of expenses spent on program activities; and a dedication to transparency. The process takes into account everything from fundraising and leadership to budget and mission statement.
“This mark of excellent from the Better Business Bureau means a great deal to us at Hospice,” said Mary K. Spengler, MS, the Executive Director of Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester. “Our team of physicians, registered nurses, licensed social workers, spiritual counselors, certified home health aides and volunteers is devoted to providing exceptional and compassionate hospice care. Recognition from a prestigious organization like the bureau is a major commendation.”
The accreditation will appear on HPCW’s charity report, and inform donors and potential donors of the organization’s commitment to excellence.
