Marianjoy Speech Language Pathologist, Susan Brady, M.S., CCC-SLP, BCS-S, has been named a 2014 Fellow of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). Susan is one of 38 honorees this year from the 170,000+ members of ASHA.
With this award, Ms. Brady is being recognized for her groundbreaking research and applied work in the field of dysphagia (ie, swallowing). During her 18 years with Marianjoy, Susan has published over 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts; delivered dozens of posters and podium presentations nationally and internationally; and served as a leader for the development of a number of applied clinical protocols which help patients regain their ability to swallow following an illness, accident, or injury. She is part of an interdisciplinary team which includes board-certified physiatrists, otolaryngologists, and speech language pathologists. Working together within the Marianjoy Swallowing and Voice Center, this team uses state-of- the-art equipment and clinical procedures that improve patient outcomes and contribute to research studies at the national level.
The ASHA Fellowship is the highest form of recognition awarded an individual for their outstanding professional achievements. The American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) is the national professional, scientific, and credentialing association for more than 173,070 audiologists, speech-language pathologists, speech, language, and hearing scientists, audiology and speech-language pathology support personnel, and students. Ms. Brady will be formally recognized by the Association during an awards ceremony on Friday, November 21, 2014, at the ASHA Convention in Orlando, FL.
