Leading digital skills training “boot camp” provider The Digital Professional Institute is announcing its two newest programming boot camps in Mobile App Development and Web App Development. These 10-week intensive courses will take place at the downtown Chicago campus of DPI’s affiliate institution, Tribeca Flashpoint Academy.

The programming boot camps are designed to simulate the experience junior developers will have upon entering into a role at a Web or Mobile App Development shop. These latest courses from the Digital Professional Institute are designed to address the widening skills gap between employer demand and employee proficiency.

Avi Levine, the Executive Director of the Digital Professional Institute, said the widening digital skills gap means that companies risk falling behind their peers in an increasingly competitive landscape.

“We see firsthand the disconnect between what students have been taught in the classroom and what is demanded of them in the workplace. In the next decade there will be a gap of 100,000 programming jobs alone where there won’t be enough graduates to fill that demand,” said Levine. “Our short courses are designed to address that gap by combining the discipline of instructional design by education experts with the leading edge experience of the subject matter experts who develop and teach our classes.”

The 10-week intensive boot camps combine technical and development skills training with teamwork training. The goal, says Levine, is to create an experience that goes beyond technical training in order to prepare students to function effectively in a team environment. Applications close September 25, 2014 and courses start October 16, 2014.
