Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, with its natural beauty, relaxed atmosphere and live coral reef makes it a natural fit for mermaids, divers and Ocean lovers to get together
Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, FL (PRWEB) September 03, 2014
Mermaids are a very popular subject of myths and legend. The town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea will be the site for the inaugural "Mermaids By The Sea Gathering" September 17th to September 21st 2014.
The Mermaid Gathering was established to provide a beautiful, comfortable and secure place for "mermaids" from around the world to gather together to meet, greet and make new “mer-friends” in a gorgeous beachfront tropical setting.
Lauderdale-By-The-Sea has all of the best elements; a small town retaining the old Florida style with low-rise buildings set along quaint and charming streets. The beaches of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea are some of the best in Florida; while the town has plenty of areas to sit oceanside in “full tails” permitting mermaids to feel totally at home in a relaxed and comfortable seaside setting. The town holds the distinction of being “the shore diving capital of South Florida” as it has a living coral reef just 100 yards off the beach so any mermaid can easily swim out to our reef and absorb the Ocean’s energy and mingle with its inhabitants. It also boasts about having the only Biorock artificial reef system in the United States.
Allen The Grouper Sherrod returns will attempt to reclaim his World Record for the Longest Open Saltwater SCUBA dive he originally set here in 2011. The Grouper will attempt to set a new record of 55 hours underwater. His attempt will be broadcast in a live streaming format from his location on the reef 24/7 over the internet so millions of people around the world can watch and be a part of this amazing record breaking event. There will also be an underwater “in tails” wedding ceremony between “The Grouper” and Mermaid Queen Barbara Wynns at 11:11 AM on Friday the 19th with a large Mermaid wedding party in attendance.
To add to the excitement, in attendance this year will be Eric Ducharme “The Mertailor”, author Carolyn Turgeon and international award winning photographer Andreas Franke will attend this year to present his exhibit of the magical undersea art of The Sinking World of Andreas Franke.
