We want to be an active participant in building a sustainable society.
Rock Hill, SC (PRWEB) September 04, 2014
Community First Promotions’ environmental improvement division first began as a one man operation conducting informal roadside clean-ups in the spring of 2009 and is now a volunteer with the City of Charlotte’s Keep Charlotte Beautiful Program and Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s Storm Water Services Storm Drain Marking Project. Now, in addition to volunteering for environmental improvement programs, Community First Promotions has expanded its operations to provide offerings in the Eco-friendly, organic, and sustainable products sector through its website. Community First Promotions makes this move in order to facilitate expansion throughout North and South Carolina.
Community First Promotions is a Veteran owned company that was founded by Omar McCrorey of Rock Hill, SC in the spring of 2009. “I was out of work and I couldn’t find a job that was fulfilling and allowed me to improve my community,” stated McCrorey. “I looked at my surroundings and decided that the first thing that I could do to improve my community was to get involved and help clean things up,” said McCrorey when asked about his reasons for choosing to become a professional volunteer.
McCrorey, also a full time college student with a 4.0 GPA, is majoring in Business Management and intends to create jobs in all major U.S. cities by hiring professional volunteers. “I know it sounds like an oxymoron, but people need to be compensated for their time, especially if they are working to improve the standard of living and raise awareness of environmental issues.”
The business model employed by Community First Promotions is a unique one. They are counting on revenues generated by their eCommerce store to provide incentives for volunteers to walk city streets on a daily basis and pick up trash. “Fifty-nine percent of litter is the result of failure to properly secure materials and debris that are in transit. Sometimes it’s just from trash on the back of a pick-up truck. This debris eventually finds its way into gutters and subsequently into city and rural storm water drainage systems. This is bad for everyone,” said McCrorey.
While Community First Promotions is a very small operation, they have managed to assemble a network of professionals that facilitate their sales, customer service, and supply chain. The company is poised to expand its volunteer efforts into the City of Charlotte’s Adopt-A-Stream Program with hopes of providing incentives for volunteers to improve their communities. “Tying organic and Eco-friendly products to community and environmentally focused initiatives is like one hand washing the other. I figure that if Community First Promotions can get out in front and become aligned with city governments and Eco-friendly manufacturers then a truly sustainable economy can become a reality. The only way that this can be done is by gaining visibility and raising community awareness.”
With all of the Eco-friendly and organic products retailers in the market place today, Community First Promotions is standing out by providing quality products and by being good stewards in the community. While they do not have the fanciest online store or follow their customers around the Web asking them to take surveys, they do boast a drive to provide the best products and customer service possible for such a small organization. Community First Promotions should be the choice of any responsible consumer that wants to see their hard earned money put to positive action.
