Florida Hospital and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are spreading “Bucs Fever” across Tampa Bay by kicking off several community health events and the “Catch Bucs Fever” television commercial featuring Bucs head coach, Lovie Smith. The commercial and community health events are part of the unique partnership between Florida Hospital and the Buccaneers that both organizations announced last year, when Florida Hospital became the Exclusive Hospital of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Together, the organizations are making a commitment to positively impact the health and wellness of the Tampa Bay community.
“We believe that Florida Hospital has an important role to play in creating a healthier community. We are excited to build on this partnership with the Bucs and add new initiatives that will benefit communities that we serve. As a health care leader, we typically look to stop fevers from spreading; however, this situation is different. We are encouraging everyone to spread the fever so that we can support our new coach, Lovie Smith, and the 2014 Buccaneer team. Our playful use of “Bucs Fever” is just one more way to deepen the connection we have with the Bucs,” said Mike Schultz, President and CEO of the Florida Hospital West Florida Region.
Florida Hospital officially launched its Bucs Babies program during the NFL draft in May 2014 and gave new moms and dads a “training camp” health and wellness package for their new little rookies. Since the Bucs Babies program was so popular during the NFL draft season, Florida Hospital is continuing the program through the regular season. During the entire football season, all babies born at Florida Hospital in Tampa Bay will receive a Bucs Babies t-shirt. Kicking off the new season, Florida Hospital will sponsor the media backdrop during press conferences from September 8th – September 14th. During the Bucs vs. Rams game on September 14th, Florida Hospital will give away free “Catch Bucs Fever” bandanas in four locations outside the stadium. Fans will be able to pick up these fun bandanas at cars and buses wrapped in “Keeping Your Crew Healthy” and “Florida Hospital the Exclusive Hospital of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers” logos. In October, Florida Hospital will be one of the sponsors for the Buccaneers Treasure Chests 5k Run/Walk to help raise awareness and support patient treatment and research for breast cancer. This will be the first year where the Florida Hospital Foundation is a beneficiary of the proceeds raised at this event which is expected to attract several thousand participants. These foundation funds will be directed toward breast cancer patient services. More than 500 Florida Hospital employees will be supporting this event and attending the Bucs vs. Ravens game on October 12th following the race.

Florida Hospital will also be the presenting sponsor of the Fitness Challenge prior to the Bucs vs. Falcons game on November 9th. About the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
