New Report: UPS, DHL, Reading Buses and Ninatrans share NGV Experience and Strategy
(PRWEB UK) 8 September 2014 -- There are changes coming for the future of transport in Europe. Euro6 regulations are pushing fleet managers to start taking decisive action to lower emissions and impact on the environment. In fact, two of the largest transportation and logistics companies worldwide have already been putting into practice strategies to reduce CO2 emissions for several years – leaders UPS and DHL. Both these global brands have chosen a natural gas strategy – increasing the environmental benefits by opting to invest in biogas – the form of natural gas derived from waste. Senior figures from these companies reveal their reasons behind investing and future strategy – Peter Harris, Director of Sustainability, EMEA for UPS and Jim York, Vice President of GoGreen EMEA for DHL.
Reading Buses, the largest CNG bus fleet in the UK, has also taken this route. Chief Engineer John Bickerton reveals that not only has the switch lowered emissions and cut fuel costs, but that it has also had a positive commercial effect. Owing to the greener profile of Reading Buses, they have been able to bid for contracts with environmental footprint conditions and differentiate from the competition.
Also featured in the report is Belgian transportation company Ninatrans – the winners of the 2013 ‘Transporter of the Year’ award. Ninatrans have received acclaim for putting green initiatives first. However, despite wanting to invest in NGVs for his fleet, Managing Director Benny Smets has so far been unable to do so. He reveals this is down to lack of infrastructure in his region, but circumstances look likely to change soon. Drive Systems has become one of the first Blue Corridors LNG partners to open a station in Belgium.
