Based on court documents filed in the Southern District of New york U.S. District Court. Independent artist Javon has filed suit against Beyonce Knowles. The suit alleges that Beyonce copied one of his songs in her latest album released last December. Javon, who is connected to Beyonce through an industry connection, says the track titled ‘XO’ from the singer’s album is eerily similar to his previous release ‘XOXO’.

“The songs are not the same but the titles, artwork, even the outfits worn were too close to my work. That is just too coincidental,” Javon says.

His original song XOXO was released six months prior to the release of Beyonce’s album in December 2013 titled ‘Beyonce’. Javon was surprised to hear Beyonce’s XO which not only is alleged to sound familiar to his original track, but allegedly contains samples and recreations of the melody sung and chords played in "XOXO". It is also alleged that the songs even showed similarities in the accompanying artwork.

This lawsuit has been filed as a copyright infringement case number 14cv6798.
