We strongly believe that taking on an important role in the OpenPOWER Foundation will help shaping an emerging market by combining two disruptive technologies: cloud computing and genomics.
Delft, The Netherlands (PRWEB) September 25, 2014
Next generation sequencing data analysis provider Bluebee, announced today they have joined the OpenPOWER Foundation, an open development community that leverages the IBM POWER architecture.
Bluebee is glad to join IBM, Google, Altera, Xilinx and a growing number of technology organizations working collaboratively to build advanced server, storage, and networking acceleration technology as well as industry leading open source software aimed at delivering more choice, control, and flexibility to developers of next-generation heterogeneous Cloud datacenters. The group makes POWER hardware and software available to open development for the first time, along with making POWER intellectual property licensable to others, greatly expanding the ecosystem of innovators on the platform.
Bluebee intends to work with the OpenPOWER Foundation to install a workgroup to design a reference architecture for high performance genetic data analysis.
‘Bluebee joining the OpenPOWER Foundation emphasizes Bluebee’s ambition to play a distinctive role in the broader rollout of high performance and cloud based data analytics for genomics. We strongly believe that taking on an important role in the OpenPOWER Foundation will help shaping an emerging market by combining two disruptive technologies: cloud computing and genomics.’ says Bluebee’s CEO Hans Cobben.
"Bluebee's membership in the OpenPOWER Foundation will further the Foundation's ability to achieve its mission," said Jeff Brown, Chair of the OpenPOWER Foundation’s Technical Steering Committee and IBM Distinguished Engineer. “Given the importance of the computational challenges in genomics we are looking forward to Bluebee’s focus on creating new, innovative solutions in the domain high performance genome analytics and personalized medicine”
