The event, entitled “Strategic Doing,” will feature Ed Morrison, a preeminent expert on regional development and civic collaboration, as the keynote presenter on Oct. 20th.

Decosimo, a Top 100 accounting and business advisory firm, will serve as the presenting sponsor for an upcoming regional development seminar that will be hosted by University of North Alabama (UNA) and its College of Business. The event, entitled “Strategic Doing,” will feature Ed Morrison, a preeminent expert on regional development and civic collaboration, as the keynote presenter. The seminar is scheduled to take place on October 20th at 5:30 p.m. in the Guillot University Center on the UNA campus in Florence, Ala.

Mr. Morrison, who developed the concept of “Strategic Doing,” will facilitate an interactive discussion of this principle during the seminar and how it coincides with regional development. As described by Mr. Morrison, “Strategic Doing enables people in loosely joined, open networks to think and act strategically. Instead of broad visions, they pursue measurable strategic outcomes. Instead of focusing on problems and deficits, they define new opportunities by connecting their assets. Instead of looking for a visionary leader, they recognize that leadership in open networks is a shared responsibility.”

UNA and its College of Business have extended invitations to regional leaders within a 75-mile radius to participate in the seminar, which will begin with networking and appetizers from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. CST. Mr. Morrison, who holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Juris Doctor degree, serves as the Regional Economic Development Advisor at Purdue University’s Center for Regional Development. In more than 20 years of work in the public arena, Mr. Morrison has led strategy projects with economic and workforce developers throughout the U.S., and the concept of “Strategic Doing” has earned accolades on both the domestic and international stages. “Strategic Doing” won the American Economic Development Council’s first Arthur D. Little Award for excellence in economic development.
