The Arlington South Lions Club will honor Congressman James P. Moran for more than two decades of service on Capitol Hill with a Melvin Jones Fellowship and Progressive Award at the Arlington Mill Center, 909 South Dinwiddie Street, Arlington, VA 22204. The Congressman will accept these awards during the Club’s Open House on Saturday, September 27, 2014, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Local resident, Rebecca Krafft will also be recognized.
Mike Nicolais, President, Arlington South Lions Club stated, “We are delighted that the Congressman will participate this weekend. We hope he and many others accept the challenge to support their local Lions clubs to meet pressing needs in our community including The Northern Virginia Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center (LERC). In a guide produced by the Congressman and posted on his website, he states, “The work of nonprofit organizations touches hundreds of thousands of people in our community, state, country, and around the world.” … They bring out what is best in our country.”
It is our goal to raise awareness of the work that the Arlington South Lions do not only in Arlington but also in eight neighboring counties and in the state. Our Lion members take this opportunity to thank the 1400 families who purchase Christmas Trees each year that supports research and those in need.
