Over the past 14 years, JobLogic service management software has been developing to meet the challenges presented to the Software as a Service (SaaS) industry and provide a better solution for its customers. When JobLogic first came into the industry, most devices were unable to function without being charged regularly and the field operative had to carry a separate phone and the devices that had dual functionality performed very poorly.

The next challenge was the networks. Relatively poor coverage and loss of data meant that software applications had to rely on local storage and synchronisation. Data was also ridiculously expensive with some networks only offering 2Mb per month and charging £1 per additional Mb.

Additionally, most field workers were not tech savvy. They could send a text from their phone but providing them with a PDA running Windows CE and asking them to open programs whilst navigating around screens with a stylus was problematic and involved heavy training programmes. JobLogic has developed its software to minimize the need for heavy or unnecessary data transfer and aims to continue along this track for the coming year.

The success of Blackberry, iPhone and more recently Android over the past few years has meant that engineers have become consumers of software. They now have their own Smartphone and understand what an app is. JobLogic has been developed with these individuals in mind, being one of the first software developers to present user friendly forms to the end user. They are currently developing specialized versions of certificates such as Gas Safe certificates and F-Gas forms that can be used on the latest smartphones with minimal effort.

JobLogic have committed to continue making vast strides in the area of field service management software, with several new software releases planned for this year. "Rolling out a mobile application to field engineers is the easiest it's ever been,” said James Whatmore, managing director of JobLogic software. “The users are already trained in the use of Smartphones and tablets.
